It seems natural to assume that an improving economy would be good for the stock market. After all, the stock market is a basket of the biggest U.S. companies, and stock prices are a gauge of the health of a company’s profits. But this relationship is not necessarily true, particularly as it pertains to interest rates. Higher interest rates may actually be bad for stocks.
